Amanda Anisimova will play her first US Open final this weekend after coming through her semifinal clash with Naomi Osaka.
Anisimova beat Osaka in three sets in the night session at Arthur Ashe Stadium to set up a title bout with defending champion Aryna Sabalenka.
The American, who has reached her second Grand Slam final of the season, has played the Belarusian nine times before on the WTA Tour and has a winning record against her.
Ahead of the championship match, Anisimova gave her thoughts on the world number one, who is looking to become the first woman to go back-to-back at Flushing Meadows since Serena Williams in 2014.

After defeating Osaka, she said of Sabalenka in her press conference: “It’s the number one player in the world, and she is playing amazing tennis.
“It’s going to be a really tough match and a battle. I am excited. Every single time we have played, it has been great.
“We have had very tough matches. A lot of them have actually been at Grand Slams, especially early on in my career.
“I think the standout one was probably Wimbledon. I mean, it really was a see-saw match, which is almost always the case when I play her. I think that was the most special one for me.
“I feel like the last few weeks it’s been a bit of a different feeling. At Wimbledon, it felt like every match was a surprise to me, and I was shocked with every match that I won.
“But here it feels more like I believe in myself and I’m able to do it. So I think that has been the shift for me at least here at the US Open. I just am going to go about it like it’s been every other day.
“Obviously, I am excited, but I’m kind of shutting off all the noise around me and deleting everything from my phone to just really focus and zone in on my opportunity and do everything I can to be ready.”

The now-three-time Grand Slam champion then won their next two clashes at the Italian Open in 2022, and the Australian Open in 2024.
