Amanda Anisimova discusses the different surfaces in tennis

In an episode of ‘Behind the Curtain’ on the WTA YouTube channel, Anisimova was asked what her favourite surface in tennis is.

She responded: “My favourite surface to play on is probably hard court because I grew up playing on it. But I honestly love playing on all surfaces.

“I feel comfortable playing on the grass, clay, and hard. I love the fact that we get to play on all of them throughout the year.”

Though hard court is her favourite, it is not the surface she has the highest win percentage on.

Anisimova’s best strike rate has come on grass, where she has won 67.5% of her matches, according to Tennis Stats.

When discussing her 2025 season, Anisimova explained that her level took her by surprise.

She said: “At some points in this year I was like, ‘is this really real life?’ Because, yeah, I’ve done a lot of things and have achieved moments that I didn’t think was possible; at least not this year or so soon after my break.

“It has been incredible. And also the fact that my family has gotten to witness some of those moments in person this year was super, super special.
