“And it warms my heart because I know that it comes from a profound and shared love for our nation.
“I carry the flag with me wherever I go, and I am a firm believer that where you come from is a big part of who you are.
“So I do my best to represent the best of our country, on and off the court, because I’m really proud and it comes from a genuine place of love.
“So I promise that I will continue to represent the Philippines in the best way that I possibly can.”

WTA players will be desperate to avoid Alexandra Eala at the US Open
It certainly cannot be easy dealing with the burden of the hopes of an entire nation, particularly at such a young age.
But Eala continues to act in a mature and admirable manner in that regard, importantly both on and off the court.
Her focus will, however, now need to shift from the grass courts of Wimbledon to the hard courts of North America.
Eala will play at the Washington Open first, followed by appearances at the Canadian Open and Cincinnati Open.
They will serve as warm-up tournaments for the US Open, which concludes the 2026 Grand Slam season.
Predict now – who are the two women who make the US Open final?
Aryna Sabalenka, Elena Rybakina and Iga Swiatek are all out of form…
And thanks to her run at Wimbledon and indeed her huge fanbase, Eala undoubtedly represents a player that her rivals will really want to avoid in the draw, particularly early on.
The Filipina beat defending champion Iga Swiatek in London, as well as Maya Joint, who had previously knocked out WTA legend Serena Williams.
