Alexandra Eala will play both singles and doubles at Wimbledon this year.

Eala has made an impressive start to the grass court season, having won her first title on the surface at the WTA 125 tournament in Birmingham.

The Filipina also won a match at Queen’s, before Eala lost in the second round to her friend Iva Jovic.

As Eala continues her grass court season, she has now confirmed her partner for the doubles tournament at Wimbledon this year.

Alexandra Eala will play doubles with Nikola Bartunkova at Wimbledon

Eala will play doubles with Czech player Nikola Bartunkova at Wimbledon this year.

She has already spent a lot of time on court with Bartunkova during the grass court season this year, Eala partnering the Czech in Birmingham, before beating her in the singles final.

The Birmingham Classic was the first time that Eala had played alongside Bartunkova, as they lost in the first round, despite having a match point.

Eala and Bartunkova will be hoping to win their first match together when they reunite at the Wimbledon Championships.

Some of the other confirmed teams for the women’s doubles draw at Wimbledon this year include top seeds Taylor Townsend and Katerina Siniakova, with other notable pairings in Jovic and Magda Linette, and Sofia Kenin and Jelena Ostapenko.

While it is not confirmed yet, it is also heavily rumoured that Serena Williams, who has recently returned to the WTA Tour, will play alongside her older sister Venus, but they will require a wildcard to do so.

Alexandra Eala’s previous Grand Slam doubles results

This will be the fourth Grand Slam where Eala has played doubles as well as singles, but she has only won one match before.

Eala has had different doubles partners for all three of her previous Grand Slam doubles appearances, having played alongside Renata Zarazua, Eva Lys and Ingrid Martins.

Zarazua is the only partner Eala has won a major doubles match alongside, having done so at Roland Garros last year.

Last year, Eala partnered Lys at Wimbledon, but they were beaten in the first round by the aforementioned Martins and Quinn Gleason.

This is where Eala will play Donna Vekic in the first round, before potentially facing second seed Elena Rybakina.
