Alexander Zverev is attempting to move on from the disappointment of losing his third Grand Slam final at the Australian Open.

Zverev was disappointed after the Australian Open, where he reached his first final before losing to top seed Jannik Sinner in straight sets.

This was the most convincing of Zverev’s three Grand Slam final defeats, having been a set away from both the US Open (2020) and Roland Garros (2024) titles.

Despite the setback of losing another major final, some top tennis coaches have backed Zverev to make that Grand Slam breakthrough.

It is also widely believed that Zverev is most likely to win Roland Garros, with the German making a schedule change for the 2025 season that suggests that is his focus.

Alexander Zverev faces setback ahead of Argentina Open

For the first time in his career, Zverev will play the golden clay court swing beginning in Buenos Aires.

This is not the only new clay court tournament that Zverev will play, having also been announced for a post-Wimbledon tournament.

However, he has already faced a setback ahead of the upcoming Argentina Open, with Zverev’s luggage going missing and instead being directed nearly 14,000km away.

“Could anyone explain to me how on earth it is possible for me to fly from Rome to Buenos Aires but my bags instead of coming with me being send to the Maldives?” questioned Zverev on Instagram. “I guess they need a vacation already (four laughing emojis).”

Alexander reveals his luggage went missing in Instagram story.

Zverev has a bit of time to receive the rest of his luggage, as he does not have to play the first round of the ATP 250 tournament as the top seed.

The world number two awaits the winner of the match between Spaniard Roberto Carballes Baena and Dusan Lajovic.

Further down the line some of the potential threats for Zverev include Francisco Cerundolo, Lorenzo Musetti and Holger Rune.
