Alexander Zverev booked his place in the fourth round of the Indian Wells Open after coming through a difficult test in the form of Brandon Nakashima.
Zverev drew first blood in the match narrowly via a tiebreak, but the American fought back to force a decisive third set.
The German, seeded fourth in Indian Wells, ultimately came out on top to advance and set up a round-of-16 clash with Frances Tiafoe.

Tiafoe has failed to pick up a win in any of his last six matchups against Zverev, with the head-to-head currently 8-1 in favour of the latter.
With his victory over Nakashima, the world number four has become the first this decade to achieve an incredible feat.
Alexander Zverev reaches 100 ATP Masters wins since 2020
According to Opta Ace, Zverev is now the first player to claim 100 match wins at ATP Masters 1000 tournaments since 2020.
He beat Carlos Alcaraz, Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner to a century of victories this decade.

Since the start of the 2020 season, Zverev has clinched four ATP Masters 1000 titles from the six finals he has reached.
Following a near miss at the Paris Masters in 2020, Zverev won both the Madrid Open and the Cincinnati Open in 2021.
Across 2022 and 2023, he made just one Masters final, but then won two crowns at the premium level in 2024.

Zverev failed to win a Masters 1000 title in 2025, but he did make a number of semifinals late on in the season.
Following multiple early exits in the first half of his campaign, Zverev made the semifinals of the Canadian Open, but lost to Karen Khachanov.
He then advanced to the final four in Cincinnati, but fell to Alcaraz in straight sets.
Zverev’s last semifinal appearance in a Masters 1000 tournament came at the 2025 Paris Masters, where he was dominated 6-0, 6-1 by Sinner.
