Alexander Zverev and Jack Draper have both reached the quarter-final stage of the 2024 Vienna Open.

The Vienna Open quarter finals are underway and there are a number of top ATP stars looking to take home the title.

Zverev, the top seed for the tournament is the favorite in a field that includes Alex de Minaur, Draper, and Lorenzo Musetti.

Zverev won the Italian Open, in the lead-up to the French Open early this year, his only ATP title of 2024 so far.

The German backed up his clay-court credentials when Zverev reached the French Open final against Carlos Alcaraz a month later.

His consistency has continued through the remainder of the season, and he is currently ranked third in the world.

With an impressive season under his belt, some fans are asking whether or not Zverev could push on and challenge to become world number one in 2025.

Ahead of this year’s Vienna Open, however, Zverev took a break from the on-court action to answer a very different question.

Alexander Zverev and Jack Draper say who they would choose as an ATP roommate

Ahead of the Vienna Open, the Erste Bank Open Instagram account asked several ATP stars which player they would choose to be roommates with for a whole year.

Draper gave his thoughts on who would be the most entertaining. “I think [Gael] Monfils or [Francis] Tiafoe would be extremely funny to be around,” he said.

“Their energy would become too much, but I think I’m going to risk it and say Monfils.”

Zverev wasn’t quite so thrilled at the prospect of having an ATP star as a roommate. “No-one,” he joked. “But if I have to pick one, someone like [Karen] Khachanov.”

Alexei Popyrin who won this year’s Montreal Open, gave an intriguing answer about his compatriot Alex de Minaur.

“Definitely not de Minaur, I’ve roomed with him a lot and I don’t want to room with him again,” he said.

“I don’t ever want to room with him again, he knows why,” joked the Australian.

Popyrin had a similar answer to Draper when pushed to choose however.

“Francis, me and Francis get along really well, so probably him,” he said.

Can Alexander Zverev win a Grand Slam in 2025?

Back on court, Zverev will be looking to finish his 2024 season positively, with the world number two spot up for grabs over the coming months.

What 2025 could bring is perhaps more intriguing, however, as fans are once again asking the question of whether or not Zverev can finally get over the hump and win a Grand Slam title.

Zverev has now reached the final four of eight Grand Slams, but has yet to clinch his first Major title.

Alexander Zverev’s Semi-Final struggles

It looks as if the French Open could well be Zverev’s best chance at Grand Slam success having reached the semi-finals in each of the last four editions of the tournament.

With Rafael Nadal out of the picture and Novak Djokovic failing to win a Grand Slam for the first time in seven years in 2024, there could potentially be an opening for Zverev at Roland Garros.

The likes of Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner do pose a very serious threat however, and clay court specialists Stefanos Tsitsipas and Casper Ruud are always going to be tough to beat.

But if Zverev is ever going to win his first Grand Slam title, it looks like the 2025 French Open could be his best shot yet.

Zverev is set to return to action against Musetti in the Vienna Open quarter-finals on Friday.
