Alexander Bublik states what he wants to happen to Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz at every single Grand Slam now

Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner wrote the latest (and greatest) chapter of their rivalry at the French Open earlier this month.

Despite playing one another 11 times on the ATP Tour, the world number one and two hadn’t contested a Grand Slam final prior to this year’s French Open.

That changed when both players advanced to the final, taking to Court Philippe Chatrier in search of Roland Garros glory.

After five hours and 29 minutes of thrilling action, Alcaraz beat Sinner 4-6, 6-7, 6-4, 7-6, 7-6, to retain his French Open title.

As fans look ahead to a potential rematch between the pair at Wimbledon next month, one ATP star has said what he wants to happen to Sinner and Alcaraz at every Grand Slam tournament from now on.

During an interview with Tennis TV, world number 45 Alexander Bublik gave his verdict on Sinner and Alcaraz’s rivalry.

“I mean, they are going to continue doing that. They are just on another dimension,” he said.

“It is unbelievable to see, and it’s really nice to be present in that moment to play them many times.

“I have faced Jannik [Sinner] six times already. I have never played Carlos [Alcaraz], actually, but I’m sure we will face each other.

“Maybe I was upset a bit that I had not faced Roger [Federer] and Rafa [Nadal] in my career, such legends, but maybe we are going to have new legends that I have played 20 times.”

The Kazakh star then revealed what he ‘hopes’ to see happen with Alcaraz and Sinner over the coming years.

“I wish them a lot of success, and every Slam I watch, I hope for them to win, and I hope to see them in the final,” said Bublik.

“I hope this Grand Slam race increases and shortens between them and the greats that we have now.

“To be present in that era, I think, is really exciting.”

Sinner and Alcaraz currently trail the likes of Nadal and Federer by some distance, although many expect the pair will close the gap before too long.

The reason why many are predicting Alcaraz and Sinner to hone in on the Grand Slam record in the future is because of their dominance at Major tournaments over the past 18 months.

Since Novak Djokovic won the US Open in 2023, Sinner and Alcaraz have shared the last six Grand Slams.

If that trend continues over the next five to ten years, then it won’t be long before we see the Spaniard and Italian reach 20 Grand Slams, inserting themselves into the G.O.A.T. conversations, which have been long dominated by the ‘big three’ of Federer, Nadal, and Djokovic.

Only time will tell if either Sinner or Alcaraz can reach those heights, but they’ll both have a chance to add to their tally when Wimbledon begins on Monday, June 30.

Alexander Bublik prepares for tough Jannik Sinner test in Halle

Bublik is more than aware of the talent Sinner possesses, having played him five times on the ATP Tour (1-4).

The pair battled it out most recently at last month’s French Open, when Sinner won in straight sets, 6-1, 7-5, 6-0, advancing to the semi-finals.

The 28-year-old will have another shot at the world number one this week at the Halle Open on grass, when the pair face off in the second round.

Bublik emerged victorious in their one previous meeting in Germany, two years ago, en route to winning the biggest title of his career.

Sinner and Bublik will face off for a place in the Halle quarterfinals on Thursday, June 19.
