Alex de Minaur is thrilled he has now returned to full fitness after commencing his 2025 season.

In 2024 the Australian produced the best year of his career as he broke into the ATP Tour’s top 10 for the first time.

He has reached successive Grand Slam quarter-finals and he will aim to build on those results in the new campaign.

But De Minaur achieved these results despite experiencing some injury issues which hindered one of one of the most important aspects of his game.

What has Alex de Minaur said about his fitness at the United Cup?

Alex de Minaur chose to commence his 2025 season in front of his home fans at the United Cup.

The 25-year-old won both his singles matches against Tomas Martin Etcheverry and Billy Harris and his doubles encounter alongside Olivia Gadecki.

Despite going undefeated at the United Cup Australia did not qualify for the quarter-finals. But De Minaur was pleased to be back at full fitness, which means his movement, one of his biggest assets on court, is back to its best.

“Now officially last year I struggled with an injury that sidelined me and took away one of my biggest assets, which was my movement. It took me a very long time to get back,” he told reporters.

“It was safe to say that it had been a long time since I felt my feet moving as quickly as they did today and doing all of that without pain.

“It was a really good feeling. So kind of gave me — you know, gave me some goose bumps because it felt good to finally be back at that level.”

What were Alex de Minaur’s injury issues in 2024?

De Minaur struggled with a hip injury in 2024 especially in the second half of the season.

The World number nine was forced to withdraw from Wimbledon after defeating Frenchman Arthur Fils due to a hip injury.

The injury meant he could only play doubles at the Olympic Games and he did not play again until the US Open.

But the issue flared up yet again at Flushing Meadows and his movement was significantly hampered during his quarter-final exit to Jack Draper.

De Minaur played on for the rest of the season and competed at the ATP Finals for the first time. But after having some the offseason to receiver from his injury, he is fit and raring to go in 2025.
