Felix Auger-Aliassime has made a successful return from injury, winning the title in Montpellier shortly after his Australian Open withdrawal.

Auger-Aliassime retired with cramps in the first round of the Australian Open, having been trailing Nuno Borges in Melbourne.

But Auger-Aliassime has now returned with a bang, going all the way in Montpellier to successfully defend his title.

The Canadian is now a nine-time champion on the ATP Tour, with his latest success earning him a new world ranking, at the expense of Alex de Minaur.

Auger-Aliassime has climbed two places in the world rankings to sixth, while De Minaur has dropped two places to eighth.

Both players are now expected to play at the Rotterdam Open, where the Canadian meets Alexei Popyrin and the Australian takes on Arthur Fils.

Meanwhile, British number one Jack Draper has withdrawn from Rotterdam, having just returned from injury like Auger-Aliassime.

He helped Great Britain beat Norway in Davis Cup qualifying, with the Briton having now climbed one spot in the ATP rankings to 12th.

Casper Ruud, who missed that match in Oslo following the birth of his child, has dropped one place to 13th.

Elsewhere in the top 20, Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and Andrey Rublev have swapped places in 14th and 15th respectively.

Learner Tien and Valentin Vacherot earn career-high rankings

There are plenty of changes elsewhere in the ATP rankings, including career-highs for Learner Tien and Valentin Vacherot.

The former, who recently reached the Australian Open quarterfinals before losing to Alexander Zverev, has risen one place to 23rd in the world rankings.

And the latter, who memorably triumphed at the 2025 ATP Masters 1000 Shanghai, has climbed two places to 25th.

Others to have made similar moves include new world number 22 Luciano Darderi and new number 68 Eliot Spizzirri.

In other significant moves, Adrian Mannarino has risen 18 places to 52nd after reaching the Montpellier final, while Denis Shapovalov has suffered a 15-place drop to 40th.

Following the Davis Cup qualifiers and the Montpellier ATP 250 event, the calendar now heads to the USA, the Netherlands and Argentina.

There are ATP 500 competitions in both Dallas and Rotterdam, and another ATP 250 tournament in Buenos Aires.
