Alex de Minaur has confirmed when he will return to action after sustaining a hip injury.
The Australian is currently in the midst of his best season in which he broke into the top 10 for the first time in his career.
He has improved his consistency while his incredible foot speed and solid groundstrokes make him difficult to beat.
Alex De Minaur has either surpassed or equalled his best results at each of 2024’s Grand Slams so far and he will be desperate for the opportunity to try and do the same at the US Open.
When is Alex de Minaur returning to action?
De Minaur sustained a hip problem in the closing stages of his fourth round match against Arthur Fils at Wimbledon.
As a result de Minaur had to withdraw from the tournament ahead of a scheduled quarter-final match against Novak Djokovic.
De Minaur has not played a singles match since beating Fils, but he is now approaching full fitness and will be back in action at the US Open.
Taking to Instagram, the 25-year-old wrote: “Little update Been working hard trying to recover from my injury. It’s been very tough missing tournaments and excited to say I’ll be playing the US Open.
“Thanks to all the support I’ve gotten, it’s definitely helped me through these tough times. There’s always light and the end of the tunnel.”

When was Alex de Minaur’s last match?
Though de Minaur last played a singles match at Wimbledon, he has competed since the grass court Grand Slam. He represented Australia at the 2024 Olympics in the men’s doubles competition alongside Alexei Popyrin.
The Australian was desperate to compete at the prestigious global sports event for the first time and though he aimed to compete in the Olympic Games singles event, de Minaur was not fit enough to do so.
However, his Paris Olympics campaign ended prematurely as he and Popyrin lost 2-6, 3-6 to America’s Rajeev Ram and Austin Krajicek, who went on to claim the silver medal.
They were beaten by de Minaur’s compatriots Matthew Ebden and John Peers, who became Olympic champions by winning 6-7(6), 7-6(1), 10-8.
