Alex de Minaur is once again on the trail for glory as he searches for his first Masters 1000 title of his career.
Jannik Sinner praised De Minaur after their last meeting, which came last week at the Vienna Open.
De Minaur had overcome some tough matches to reach the semifinal in Vienna, but once again came unstuck against an in-form Sinner.
The Australian has just about qualified for the ATP Finals at the end of the year, and De Minaur has also been given a wildcard for the UTS Grand Final, which will take place in December.
De Minaur can typically be counted on to reach the business end of tournaments even if he doesn’t usually get over the line to win.
However, there is something that De Minaur has now completed in his career that even Carlos Alcaraz and Sinner can’t lay claim to.

Alex de Minaur completes a tennis achievement that Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner have never done
The Paris Masters is the final Masters 1000 event of the year, and De Minaur has done better than most this year.
After beating Gabriel Diallo in three sets, De Minaur has now done something that only Novak Djokovic and Alexander Zverev have managed to do during their careers.
De Minaur has reached the last 16 in eight of the nine Masters 1000 events in one year, which has proved a rare feat in the past.
This is a pretty special feat and serves to highlight that although he doesn’t claim a haul of titles, he’s still a very consistent performer when it comes to the big events on the ATP Tour.

De Minaur needs to convert good performances into titles
At 26-years-old, De Minaur has some time on his side to get over the line in a Grand Slam or Masters 1000 event.
However, it’s now up to him to convert good starts in these tournaments into wins and start mixing it with the best players on the circuit.
De Minaur has some of the shots in his arsenal when it comes to competing at the top level, and right now he’s ranked at number six in the world – matching his career high, first achieved in 2024.
Still, this statistic is quite remarkable and it’s a proud one for De Minaur, considering that not even Sinner or Alcaraz are able to say they’ve achieved this feat.
Now, De Minaur will be hoping to go a step further and ensure he finishes 2025 with a flourish and some silverware to take back to Australia.
What De Minaur said about possibly winning a Grand Slam
It would appear that De Minaur believes he’s now in his prime based on an interview with the ATP back in June of this year.
He was asked whether he felt he could win a Grand Slam and it would appear that he’s desperate to get over the line in the future.
De Minaur said: “I’ve got the experience now. I’ve got the knowledge, the physicality side of things. Everything is just there for me to go out and perform.
“I can really have a swing these next three or four years and really show that I’m at my peak and break through some barriers.
“I’m ready to go deep in tournaments. It’s just up to myself to get things right.”
