Alejandro Tabilo has a winning head-to-head record against Novak Djokovic.

The Chilean leads their head-to-head 2-1, beating Djokovic at the 2024 Italian Open and 2025 Monte-Carlo Masters before losing to him at the 2025 Hellenic Championship.

Tabilo could play Djokovic for a fourth time next year, when Chile take on Serbia in a Davis Cup qualifier.

It is, however, unclear whether the 24-time Grand Slam champion will make the trip to South America, as he continues to play a lighter schedule on the ATP Tour.

During a recent interview with ‘En Cancha‘, Tabilo revealed whether he wants Djokovic to compete.

Alejandro Tabilo would prefer Novak Djokovic not to play

The Chilean star would rather not see the Serbian legend take to the court against him.

“We’ll see if [Novak] Djokovic comes. Obviously, it would be incredible for the fans if he came, but for us I’d prefer he didn’t, haha,” he said.

Tabilo may not want to play Djokovic, but he’s still confident that his side will pick up the win regardless of whether the 38-year-old turns up.

“It’s going to be a great series,” he said.

“We’ve been doing really well at home, so hopefully we can use that advantage to our benefit.

“We hope a lot of people come out to support us, whether Djokovic comes or not, and we’ll go all out and try to win the series for Chile.

“It would be great to play against him in Chile, with all the fans there. That would be incredible.”

Tabilo, like the rest of the tennis world, isn’t sure if Djokovic will play, but when was the last time he suited up for Team Serbia?

Novak Djokovic last played for Serbia in 2024

Djokovic last played for Serbia against Greece in a Davis Cup qualifying tie last September.

In a 3-1 win over Greece, Djokovic played singles and doubles.

The year before, Djokovic was a member of the Serbian team that narrowly missed out on a place in the final.

Miomir Kecmanovic beat Lorenzo Sonego to give Serbia a 1-0 lead over Italy in the semifinals,

Djokovic had a chance to finish the job for Serbia, as he took on Jannik Sinner.

However, after failing to convert match points, Djokovic lost to Sinner in three sets, 2-6, 6-2, 5-7.

Djokovic then lost the deciding doubles alongside Kecmanovic, as Serbia missed out on a place in the final.

He’d no doubt love to return to the latter stages of the Davis Cup in 2026, should his schedule permit him to play.

Serbia would certainly be better off with him in the team, something their team captain is well aware of.

Earlier this month, Viktor Troicki shared his thoughts on Djokovic playing in the 2026 Davis Cup.

“It is too early to say if Novak will be on the team,” he said.

“Definitely with him, we would be one of the strongest teams, and Novak has already helped us many times by winning his matches.

“We have to see after the Australian Open, depending on the result, how he fares and how he feels.”

Djokovic will play the Australian Open, which begins on January 18, before deciding whether to travel to Chile for the Davis Cup tie in February.
