Alex de Minaur enjoyed a strong start to his 2025 season, but has struggled for form recently.

The 26-year-old qualified for his fourth consecutive Grand Slam quarterfinal in January when De Minaur beat Alex Michelsen in the last 16 of the Australian Open.

Carrying that momentum forward, De Minaur enjoyed several impressive performances on hard and clay courts, reaching the final of the Rotterdam Open and the semi-finals of the Monte-Carlo Masters.

His Grand Slam streak ended in Paris, however, as De Minaur lost to Alexander Bublik in the second round of the French Open.

Losing back-to-back matches, De Minaur then fell to Jiri Lehecka in his opening match at the Queen’s Club Championships.

As the Aussie star now turns his attention to Wimbledon, a 22-time Grand Slam doubles champion has predicted how far De Minaur could go at the All England Club.

Todd Woodbridge thinks Alex de Minaur could reach the Wimbledon semi-finals

Appearing on the Australian Open TV YouTube channel, 16-time doubles and six-time mixed doubles Grand Slam champion Todd Woodbridge was asked to rate De Minaur’s Wimbledon chances.

“I think they’re good, he comes in with a very different preparation,” he said.

“He was disappointed with the loss in Paris, and then didn’t get as many grass-court matches as he would have liked.

“But for him, I actually feel like, as long as he is ok with it, it’s a great prep, because he needs to refresh a little bit. He was tired, he said that, he put so much into the clay-court season.”

The 54-year-old went on to say what De Minaur ‘needs’ to do if he wants to make a deep run at SW19.

“He knows he can play brilliantly on grass, one thing he does need to do is lower his expectations,” said Woodbridge.

“He wants it so badly, and that has hindered his performance here in the past. I’m hoping very much so that he goes, let it all be, not get hung up on it.”

With that being said, Woodbridge predicted which round De Minaur could reach at Wimbledon.

“Yes, he definitely can get a semi here,” he said.

“Seedings are going to be very important. He’s just outside the top ten now. It depends on where he falls in the draw.

“But if he can keep away from those quarters of [Carlos] Alcaraz and [Jannik] Sinner, I think a semi could beckon.”

De Minaur will be keen to make a deep run at Wimbledon in 2025, having missed out on a chance to play his quarterfinal match last time around.

Securing the win over Arthur Fils in the fourth round, De Minaur was forced to withdraw from the tournament due to injury before his quarterfinal tie with seven-time champion Novak Djokovic.

It remains to be seen if De Minaur can return to the quarterfinals this year, but he will certainly hope to do so as he looks to keep up with the sport’s elite.

Is Alex de Minaur still on course to qualify for the ATP Finals?

During the first few months of the year, De Minaur looked well on course to qualify for the year-end ATP Finals, just as he did in 2024.

However, after struggling over recent weeks, the Aussie has fallen outside of the qualification spots, and currently sits ninth in the ‘Race to Turin’.

Trailing America’s Tommy Paul by just 65 points, De Minaur will have a great chance of a top-eight return should he perform at Wimbledon next month.

Statistically, Wimbledon is the 26-year-old’s second-worst Grand Slam event, having won 67% of his matches at the All England Club throughout his career.
