It’s day five of the US Open and it’s set to be a big day for the American stars as Coco Gauff, Taylor Fritz, Ben Shelton and Frances Tiafoe are all in competition.
An enjoyable first week of the US Open is now nearly at an end but it’s not been without its drama, especially after Carlos Alcaraz’s shocking defeat to Botic van de Zandschulp in the second round.
That saw the Spaniard’s 15-match Grand Slam unbeaten run come to an end following his triumphs at the French Open and Wimbledon.
Elsewhere, world number ones Iga Swiatek and Jannik Sinner comfortably advanced to the third round while two-time US Open champion Naomi Osaka was eliminated at the hands of Karolina Muchova.

Key storylines to follow on day five of the 2024 US Open
It’s set to be an exciting day at Flushing Meadows with plenty of stars in action and big-time matches on the cards.
The highlights of the day both come early on at Arthur Ashe Stadium, where defending champion Coco Gauff will take on 28th-ranked Elina Svitolina
Afterwards, there will be a massive all-American clash as third-best-in-the-world Ben Shelton competes against Frances Tiafoe.
Another home favorite with a strong chance of going far in the tournament is Taylor Fritz, who will be in action against Francisco Comesana at the Louis Armstrong Stadium.
Finally, the legendary Novak Djokovic will also be back on the court as he takes on Alexei Popyrin this evening.

How to watch day five of the US Open 2024 in the USA
Fans in the United States can watch the US Open live on ESPN and the Tennis Channel throughout the tournament.
Broadcasts on day five will run on the Tennis Channel from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. before ESPN takes over from 11 a.m. through to 11 p.m.
ESPN, ESPN2, ESPN3 and ESPN+ will all provide tennis coverage today. Additionally, ESPN Deportes will show the action with Spanish commentary.
In the UK, fans can watch all of the action on Sky Sports.
