Anne Keothavong has been left stunned by Andy Murray after he crashed out of the Australian Open earlier today.

The pundit was speaking on Eurosport following a bruising defeat for the Great Britain star.

So, what did Keothavong have to say about Andy Murray? Let’s take a closer look…

What Anne Keothavong has said about Andy Murray

The 36-year-old was beaten in straight sets by Argentinean player Tomas Martin Etcheverry.

Murray never got going during his first-round clash and was emphatically beaten 6-4, 6-4, 6-2 in straight sets.

Keothavong was left pretty stunned by what she saw from Murray during the defeat which left him pretty speechless.

She told Eurosport: “It was just flat. Not entirely sure why either. He had a lot of support out there. He had high hopes and expectations for himself no doubt but he wasn’t able to rise to the occasion.”

Murray cut a disconsolate figure when he left the court – and now many will question whether he will play at the Australian Open again.

Keothavong right about Murray performance

This was so disappointing for a player who has won three Grand Slam titles during his career.

Okay, he hasn’t lifted a slam since 2016 and the hip injury he’s suffered with has altered his career considerably.

However, this wasn’t how Murray expected he would perform at this tournament and the manner in which he lost was most disappointing.

As Keothavong has alluded to, the whole performance just felt flat from Murray.

He was abject throughout the clash and it certainly left far more questions than answers hanging over his head.

Murray just didn’t seem to be enjoying himself out there and although he was being given a tough time, that does represent a concern.

Now, Murray must go away and decide whether he has the heart to continue, with retirement questions bound to be asked after this defeat.
