Cameron Norrie is the last British player remaining in both the men’s and women’s singles draws at Wimbledon.
Norrie advanced to the quarter-finals at the All England Club, following a five-set victory over Nicolas Jarry in the fourth round.
The Briton will now face defending champion Carlos Alcaraz in his next match at the championships, who is bidding to become the fifth man in the Open Era to three-peat in South West London.
His triumph over the Chilean marks Norrie‘s second quarter-final finish at a Grand Slam event, with both times coming at Wimbledon within the last three years.
In 2022, he reached the last eight at a major for the very first time, in front of a rapturous home crowd.

Cameron Norrie’s last appearance in the Wimbledon quarter-finals
Until that year, Norrie had never managed to make it out of the third round at any major, having tallied three round-of-32 finishes at Grand Slams the year prior.
His 2022 Wimbledon campaign began with two matches against Spaniards, one of which was a second-round five-set marathon with Jaume Munar.
Then, after two straight-sets victories over American compatriots Steve Johnson and Tommy Paul, Norrie’s quarter-final opponent came in the form of David Goffin.
| Round | Opponent | Score |
|---|---|---|
| Semi-Final | Novak Djokovic | 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 (L) |
| Quarter-Final | David Goffin | 6-3, 5-7, 6-2, 3-6, 5-7 (W) |
| Fourth Round | Tommy Paul | 6-4, 7-5, 6-4 (W) |
| Third Round | Steve Johnson | 6-4, 6-1, 6-0, (W) |
| Second Round | Jaume Munar | 6-4, 3-6, 5-7, 6-0, 6-2 (W) |
| First Round | Pablo Andujar | 6-0, 7-6, 6-3 (W) |
Goffin took the first set in their match, putting the home hope under pressure early on, but the Belgian conceded the second set 7-5.
Norrie ultimately worked his way back into the contest and forced a fifth set, where he edged the ATP veteran to set up a semi-final clash with Novak Djokovic.
It was the first time a British player had made the final four in SW19 since Andy Murray in 2016, when the Scot clinched his third major crown.
Cameron Norrie’s reaction to making the Wimbledon semi-finals in 2022
After beating Goffin, Norrie said in his post-match press conference: ” It’s very cool, especially when I made the quarterfinals the other day.
“I was thinking about when I was a kid and watching guys on TV making the quarterfinals and thinking, Wow, this looks so tough to do, and there’s almost zero chance I’m going to do that.
“But just to actually be doing it and to be living it and experiencing it is very cool and pretty crazy, actually.
“Now I have gone one further in the semis, so I think I can take a lot of confidence from that. It’s going to be a tough one against Novak, obviously, but looking forward to the challenge. I think I’m going to take it to him.
Despite taking the first set off the Serbian legend, Djokovic proved too much for Norrie in the end, winning 2-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4 en route to his seventh Wimbledon title.
