Martina Navratilova has gone down in tennis history for her feats on the court, which include 18 Grand Slam titles.
Navratilova sits behind only Margaret Court, Serena Williams, Steffi Graf and Helen Wills Moody in the all-time list, having also lost 14 finals.
Tennis legend Navratilova knew how good she was, with a world number one ranking also among her stunning career achievements.
Her superb Grand Slam success started back in 1978 and finished in 1990, with all four major tournaments won.
Navratilova particularly shone at Wimbledon, with her nine titles in London still more than any other player.

In the men’s game meanwhile, Roger Federer tops the pile for Wimbledon titles with eight, closely followed by the seven of Novak Djokovic, Pete Sampras and William Renshaw.
And it was indeed American legend Sampras who Navratilova once claimed outshone every other player in one specific area.
“Sampras had the most amazing serve – ever, I think,” she said, as quoted by BBC Sport. “And he had an unbelievable second serve, he could pull out aces with that too.”

Both Navratilova and Sampras enjoyed phenomenal success at Wimbledon, having really shone on its grass courts.
Sampras called Wimbledon the biggest Grand Slam, a tournament he won in four successive years between 1997 and 2000.
Six of the titles from Czech-American legend Navratilova meanwhile came back-to-back, from 1982 to 1987.
They have left quite the mark on tennis, with many of the current stars now looking to follow in their footsteps.

On the ATP Tour, Carlos Alcaraz has now won the last two Wimbledon finals, beating Novak Djokovic on both occasions.
And it has been Czech success on the WTA Tour, with Barbora Krejcikova and Marketa Vondrousova winning the last two titles at the All England Club.
