Carlos Alcaraz has amazingly lost only five of his last 75 matches, with only four ATP players having beaten him during the stunning run.
It stretches back all the way to last April, and is a run that Alcaraz is now doing his utmost to extend at Indian Wells.
He is the top seed at the ATP Masters 1000 tournament, and now takes on Casper Ruud for a place in the quarterfinals.
And all signs certainly point to a Spanish win, with Alcaraz boasting a fine record against Ruud and a simply phenomenal run over the last 11 months.
How do you feel about Carlos Alcaraz’s dominance of men’s tennis right now?
Is it at risk of making the men's game boring?
The four players to beat Carlos Alcaraz in his last 75 matches
The first of Alcaraz’s five losses in 75 matches arrived against Holger Rune, who won their Barcelona final in April.
The Dane emerged victorious 7-6, 6-2 in a surprising victory on clay, denying his ATP rival a title on home soil.
Alcaraz immediately returned to winning ways by upsetting Jannik Sinner in the Rome final, before winning their French Open final too.
But the Italian exacted revenge at Wimbledon, winning their final and denying Alcaraz a third successive title at the All England Club.
Another rare defeat for the Spaniard then arrived at the Laver Cup, where he was edged out by Taylor Fritz.
And an even bigger shock arrived at the ATP Masters 1000 Paris in October, when Cameron Norrie upset Alcaraz in his opening match.
Completing the very few recent defeats of the world number one was Sinner once more, who triumphed in their final clash at the 2025 ATP Finals in Turin.
| Tournament | Round | Opponent | Score |
| 2025 Barcelona | Final | Holger Rune | 6-7(6-8), 2-6 |
| 2025 Wimbledon | Final | Jannik Sinner | 6-4, 4-6, 4-6, 4-6 |
| 2025 Laver Cup | Group stage | Taylor Fritz | 3-6, 2-6 |
| 2025 Paris Masters | Second round | Cameron Norrie | 6-4, 3-6, 4-6 |
| 2025 ATP Finals | Final | Jannik Sinner | 6-7(4-7), 5-7 |
Jannik Sinner is still Carlos Alcaraz’s biggest threat
Worryingly for the rest of the ATP Tour, Alcaraz really doesn’t look like slowing down anytime soon, although it’s clear that he isn’t unbeatable.
Sinner has proven that more than most recently, while he was certainly pushed hard by Novak Djokovic in the Australian Open final.
The same can be said of Arthur Rinderknech, who took the first set in their Indian Wells third round match before losing 6-7(6-8), 6-3, 6-2.
Is Arthur Fils a genuine threat to Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner?
Intriguingly, he could be reunited with Norrie if he gets past Ruud, while Sinner represents a possible final opponent for Alcaraz.
It is indeed the Italian who still represents his biggest threat to success, with the duo enjoying the greatest rivalry in men’s tennis right now.
Sinner hasn’t been amazing in 2026, but he’s still almost guaranteed to reach the latter stages of every tournament he plays in, just like Alcaraz.

Moreover, Sinner is willing to lose matches in order to become less predictable, which could pave the way for big success for the Italian if he does manage to find new angles.
The 2025 season, which has really only just finished, highlights the current situation, with Sinner’s six titles behind only Alcaraz’s eight, while the pair shared the four Grand Slams.
He does, however, need to close the gap in their head-to-head record sooner rather than later, having lost 10 of their 16 meetings.
