Alexander Zverev has now lost in the final of all four Grand Slams following his runner-up finish at Wimbledon.
Zverev has unfortunately become accustomed to losing in Grand Slam finals, the latest of which came against Jannik Sinner at the All England Club.
The German did, however, impressively put an end to his nightmare by beating Flavio Cobolli in the final of this year’s French Open.
How would you rate Alexander Zverev’s chances of winning the US Open?
He followed that up by reaching the finals of all four majors with his Wimbledon run, but at the same time he has now lost finals at all four majors.
However, he isn’t the only ATP player on that unwanted list…
The five players to lose a final at every Grand Slam
Zverev has followed in the footsteps of four icons with his latest setback, joining Ivan Lendl, Roger Federer, Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic.
However, all four players differ in a major way from the recent Wimbledon finalist.
Lendl, Federer, Murray and Djokovic are all multiple Grand Slam champions, and all four became ATP number one in their careers.
In stark contrast, Zverev has just one Grand Slam title to his name so far, while he’s currently occupying his career-high rank of second after Wimbledon.

Alexander Zverev’s remarkable Grand Slam finals record
Zverev has enjoyed a superb career, which looks set to get even better now that he is a Grand Slam champion.
The German already seems to be playing with more freedom following the French Open, having finally put an end to his heartbreaking near misses.
However, his career could definitely have been even better at this stage given what happened in those Grand Slam finals.
Zverev has lost four major finals out of five, and hugely significantly has blown the lead in three of those four finals.

| Loss | 2026 | Wimbledon | Grass | Jannik Sinner | 7–6(9–7), 6–7(2–7), 3–6, 4–6 |
The most notable collapse arrived in his first at the 2020 US Open, when he led Dominic Thiem by two sets before falling to a five-set defeat.
Zverev also led Sinner in London, but the Italian recovered in dramatic fashion to successfully defend his Wimbledon title.
