For the 22nd year in a row, a European player finished as the ATP year-end number one.
This time it was Carlos Alcaraz who finished on top, doing so for the second time in his professional career.
Behind him were three more Europeans: (2) Jannik Sinner, (3) Alexander Zverev, and (4) Novak Djokovic.

It’s clear to see that Europe was head and shoulders above the rest this year, but who were the highest-ranked players from the other six continents?
Alex de Minaur and Felix Auger-Aliassime were the best players from their continents
North America – Felix Auger-Aliassime
Heading into the ATP Finals, three players were in with a chance to finish 2025 as the top-ranked North American.
- Taylor Fritz (USA)
- Ben Shelton (USA)
- Felix Auger-Aliassime (Canada)
However, as Taylor Fritz and Ben Shelton failed to advance to the semifinals and Felix Auger-Aliassime did, it was the Canadian who secured the top spot.
| Rank | Name | ATP Rank | Country | Points |
| 1 | Felix Auger-Aliassime | 5 | Canada | 4,245 |
| 2 | Taylor Fritz | 6 | USA | 4,135 |
| 3 | Ben Shelton | 9 | USA | 3,970 |
| 4 | Tommy Paul | 20 | USA | 2,100 |
| 5 | Denis Shapovalov | 23 | Canada | 1,675 |
Finishing the year playing some of the best tennis of his career, Auger-Aliassime reached a new career-high ranking of fifth in the world.

Heading into 2026, some fans even think that the Canadian could be the man to challenge Alcaraz and Sinner…
South America – Francisco Cerundolo
Argentina’s Francisco Cerundolo enjoyed a brilliant clay-court season in 2025, reaching his maiden Masters 1000 semifinal in Madrid.
Those performances saw him finish the year ranked just above the promising Brazilian Joao Fonseca, who will surely be a contender for this title throughout the rest of his career.
| Rank | Name | ATP Rank | Country | Points |
| 1 | Francisco Cerundolo | 21 | Argentina | 2,085 |
| 2 | Joao Fonseca | 24 | Brazil | 1,635 |
| 3 | Sebastian Baez | 45 | Argentina | 1,155 |
| 4 | Camilo Ugo Carabelli | 49 | Argentina | 1,053 |
| 5 | Tomas Martin Etcheverry | 59 | Argentina | 920 |
The teenager won the Argentina Open and Swiss Indoors this year, making a statement on the ATP Tour.
Where do you think Joao Fonseca will be ranked at the end of the 2026 season?
Australia/Oceania – Alex de Minaur
There was really no competition here, as Alex de Minaur enjoyed another strong season in 2025.
The Aussie capped off his campaign by reaching the semifinals in Turin against all odds.

The 26-year-old was the only Australian who finished inside the top 10, with his closest challenger, Alexei Popyrin, down in 54th.
| Rank | Name | ATP Rank | Country | Points |
| 1 | Alex de Minaur | 7 | Australia | 4,135 |
| 2 | Alexei Popyrin | 54 | Australia | 1,000 |
| 3 | Adam Walton | 78 | Australia | 740 |
| 4 | Aleksandar Vukic | 82 | Australia | 718 |
| 5 | James Duckworth | 86 | Australia | 704 |
Africa – Moez Echargui
Africa is struggling to produce elite players on the men’s tour.
In 2025, Tunisia’s Moez Echargui finished as the top-ranked African, but even he failed to reach the top 100.
| Rank | Name | ATP Rank | Country | Points |
| 1 | Moez Echargui | 136 | Tunisia | 452 |
| 2 | Lloyd Harris | 222 | South Africa | 256 |
| 3 | Philip Henning | 307 | South Africa | 169 |
| 4 | Eliakim Coulibaly | 312 | Ivory Coast | 168 |
| 5 | Aziz Dougaz | 316 | Tunisia | 166 |
Only time will tell if a player from the continent can break through and find success against the very best on the ATP Tour.
Asia – Alexander Bublik
Enjoying the best season of his career, Kazakhstan’s Alexander Bublik finished 2025 as the Asian number one.
Who do you think can win a Grand Slam for the first time in 2026?
Bublik won four titles this year and only narrowly missed out on a place at the tour finals.
| Rank | Name | ATP Rank | Country | Points |
| 1 | Alexander Bublik | 11 | Kazakhstan | 2,870 |
| 2 | Alexander Shevchenko | 95 | Kazakhstan | 662 |
| 3 | Shintaro Mochizuki | 100 | Japan | 647 |
| 4 | Yoshihito Nishioka | 110 | Japan | 566 |
| 5 | Yunchaokete Bu | 122 | China | 509 |
It seems unlikely that anyone else on the continent will be able to catch him in the new year, but it will certainly be something to keep an eye on.
The top 10 European players on the ATP Tour
It would be remiss not to showcase the best Europeans this year, six of whom finished the season ranked inside the world’s top 10.
| Rank | Name | ATP Rank | Country | Points |
| 1 | Carlos Alcaraz | 1 | Spain | 12,050 |
| 2 | Jannik Sinner | 2 | Italy | 11,500 |
| 3 | Alexander Zverev | 3 | Germany | 5,160 |
| 4 | Novak Djokovic | 4 | Spain | 4,830 |
| 5 | Lorenzo Musetti | 8 | Italy | 4,040 |
| 6 | Jack Draper | 10 | Great Britain | 2,990 |
| 7 | Casper Ruud | 12 | Norway | 2,835 |
| 8 | Daniil Medvedev | 13 | Russia | 2,760 |
| 9 | Alejandro Davidovich Fokina | 14 | Spain | 2,635 |
| 10 | Holger Rune | 15 | Denmark | 2,590 |
Perhaps things will start to shift next year, when the 2026 Australian Open begins on Sunday, January 18.
