Iga Swiatek not used to being the player who is losing sets 6-0 and is usually the one handing them out.

Swiatek did this in the Wimbledon final, where she actually handed two ‘bagel sets’ (6-0) to Amanda Anisimova.

However, the world number two was on the other side of this unwanted scoreline, with Swiatek hitting a huge number of unforced errors against Emma Navarro.

Navarro also used a different tactic against Swiatek, and now joins a list of 10 other players who have also won a 6-0 set against the Pole.

Navarro is the latest of 11 players to bagel Swiatek, which began at the 2019 Australian Open when she lost to Camila Giorgi, the now retired player who has recently hinted at a comeback.

Six of the 6-0 sets that Swiatek has lost came in 2019, when she would have just been a teenager.

This includes a defeat to Jelena Ostapenko, who is still unbeaten against Swiatek after playing her six times.

Daria Kasatkina’s victory over Swiatek at the Eastbourne International in 2021 was the last time that she had lost a set 6-0 until 2025, when it has happened three times.

Although it is often the case, losing a set 6-0 does not always mean that a player will lose a match and that was the case at the Madrid Open earlier this year.

After Madison Keys won the first set 6-0 against Swiatek, she was able to fight back to beat the Australian Open champion.

Clay is thought to be Swiatek’s favourite surface and particularly at Roland Garros, where she is a four-time champion, but three of the sets she has lost without winning a game have come at the Paris major.

It happened twice in the same tournament at Roland Garros in 2019, and again this year when Aryna Sabalenka won the final set 6-0 against Swiatek in the semifinals.

Now, Navarro is the latest player to join this exclusive list, having previously been on the other side of that scoreline in a previous encounter with Swiatek.

While Swiatek lost her most recent set 6-0, she has handed out many more in her career, and in her third round match at the China Open against Camila Osorio she won her 111th bagel set.

Will Iga Swiatek play the Wuhan Open after disappointment in Beijing?

Swiatek has been vocal about her disapproval of the current tennis calendar, and after the emphatic nature of her defeat to Navarro there are questions over whether she would play her next tournament.

The next event in Swiatek’s schedule is at the Wuhan Open, the WTA 1000 event where she has never played a single match after missing it last year due to her ban.

However, it appears that Swiatek is still planning to make her debut and appeared to be looking forward to seeing a new tournament.

“Well, honestly there are some specific things that I think I can improve on the court,” Swiatek said in her press conference after being beaten by Navarro. “I’ll just try to do that in the next days.

“I’ve never been there. I have no idea even how the site looks like and how the courts are. It’s I think nice to just see a new place.

“For sure it’s good that the tournament is shorter ’cause no matter if you win, no matter if you lose, you can just get on with it and do your job, that’s it, finish it a little bit earlier, just be in some kind of a rhythm.

“Yeah, I’ll just do my best, try to work on this stuff right now on the practice court and be ready for first match.”

Swiatek will make her debut at the Wuhan Open when the tournament gets underway on Monday, October 6.

The 24-year-old is expected to be the second seed, as three-time defending Wuhan Open champion Sabalenka returns to the WTA Tour.
