As an American and a former champion of the US Open, Coco Gauff will be expected to enjoy a lengthy stay at this year’s tournament.

She claimed the prestigious trophy in 2023, securing the top prize in New York with a final victory over Aryna Sabalenka.

Gauff has since won the French Open, while she also impressed in her most recent Grand Slam appearance, reaching the Wimbledon semifinals.

But a new test now awaits on home soil at the US Open, where the home favourite is certain to steal the limelight.

It has been an intriguing WTA season for Gauff up to now, with her serving efforts once again playing a key role in her title-free campaign so far.

Coco Gauff’s 2026 serving stats ahead of the US Open

Gauff has played 43 matches in 2026, winning 31 and losing 12, with the world number four yet to win a WTA title.

Notably, the 22-year-old is among the top 10 players for matches played this season, suggesting that she has come very close to emerging victorious.

But she hasn’t quite been able to get over the line, and her double fault woes continue to play a part in that lack of success.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, she once again leads the way for double faults across the entire WTA Tour in 2026.

Having also topped that unwanted list in 2024 and 2025, Gauff has recorded 257 this year, which is 56 ahead of Jelena Ostapenko in second.

She has also recorded 117 aces, which currently ranks 25th across the WTA Tour, and miles behind leader Elena Rybakina on 289.

But confidence can be taken from her 63.7% first serve percentage, which is not far behind Aryna Sabalenka’s (65.2%) and ahead of Iga Swiatek’s (63.4 %).

Gauff can also be satisfied with her 67.7% 1st serve points percentage figure, although there is clearly room for improvement with her 41.5% 2nd serve points percentage total.

Again, the American should be eager to increase her serve points won tally of 58.2%, with serve machines Sabalenka and Rybakina topping that significant leaderboard.

That duo also lead the way for their service games won efforts, for which Gauff holds a 68.1% record, the lowest among the WTA top 10.

Also holding such status are her second serve points percentage, serve points won, and break points saved percentage.

Gauff is evidently not among the most lethal servers on the WTA Tour, but she certainly makes up for that in other areas.

She is lightning-quick with a fantastic backhand, while her fighting spirit may just be the best in world tennis right now.

All of that is likely to be on display at this year’s US Open, where Gauff may just be able to repeat her heroics from three years ago.

Driven on by her home fans, the 19-year-old became the first American teenager to win the US Open since Serena Williams in 1999.
