Daniil Medvedev has stormed to two ATP Tour titles in the 2026 season, helped by his fantastic return game.
Carlos Alcaraz has been the dominant force on the ATP Tour in 2026 so far, winning both of the tournaments that he has entered.
But he is joined on two titles by Medvedev, who has just added the Dubai trophy to his Brisbane success earlier this year.
And crucial to his glory has been a lethal return, with the Russian currently leading the entire ATP Tour for return games won.
How do you feel about Carlos Alcaraz’s dominance of men’s tennis right now?
Is it at risk of making the men's game boring?
Daniil Medvedev leads ATP for 2026 return games won
With a figure of 35.45%, Medvedev is comfortably ahead of his rivals when it comes to success in return games over 2026.
Well behind him in second place is Francisco Cerundolo with a figure of 30.61%, while Alcaraz is third on the list with his record of 30.29%.
And Sinner’s underwhelming season for his standards is also evident in his return game success rate of 27.05%, for which he currently ranks sixth.
With totals of 28.99% and 27.59%, Lorenzo Musetti and Alex de Minaur respectively complete the top five, ahead of Sinner.
Medvedev’s superb efforts are highlighted further by the fact that he also ranks top for first serve return points won, and third for second serve return points won.

Daniil Medvedev must now improve his serve
It’s been a fantastic season so far for Medvedev, who may not have imagined securing such success so quickly.
It should work wonders for his confidence, which would have taken a big hit after he dropped out of the ATP top 10.
What will Daniil Medvedev’s ranking be at the end of the 2026 season?
Could Medvedev make a return to the top five?
Once ranked as the best player in the world, the 30-year-old is now 11th, but is definitely showing signs of a possible return to the top 10 very soon.
He will, however, likely have to improve his service game if he wants to truly challenge the big names in the biggest tournaments.
His serve, especially when compared to his superb return game, is really letting him down right now, with Medvedev only just within the top 40 of the ATP’s serve leaders.
| Stat | Value | Rank |
| Aces | 142 | 12th |
| 1st serve | 67.36% | 15th |
| 1st serve points won | 74.48% | 33rd |
| 2nd serve points won | 47.59% | 59th |
| Service games won | 84.21% | 37th |
| Break points saved | 64.71% | 35th |
While he’ll be delighted after winning the same tournament twice for the first time ever, he has little time to celebrate.
Indian Wells starts later this week, with the ATP Masters 1000 tournament in California immediately followed by the Miami Open.
